The Greatest Job in the World

I've got the greatest job in the world --- Motherhood.

You thought I was going to say: Photographer. I love photography, but it comes second to being a mom. As any mother will tell you, I've got the greatest and cutest kids in the world. Of course, I'm as bias as any mother! When I look at pictures of my kids, it makes me smile. Which is why I posted these, they make me smile. They're just snapshots of my kids, no studio lighting, no cute clothes, just hanging out in their jammies. But, pictures bring back the joy I felt on that day with my children.

So, in the spirit of motherhood, I'd like to share some of the reasons my kids always seem to brighten my day:

"Billy-isms" definition: the world according to Billy.

These are all Billy-isms:

Billy: "Do you know why we have windows?"
Me: "Why?"
Billy: "So birds don't fly in!"

Billy: "Do you know why we have houses?"
Me: "Why?"
Billy: "So we don't have to sleep in the snow."

Billy: "Do you know why we have Periwinkle?" (Our cat)
Me: "Why?"
Billy: "So we can pet him."

Billy is full of questions, all day, he asks questions. Some of my favorites:
"What's the moon made of?"
"Why are there trees?"
"Why can't we see God? What does He look like?"
"Why does it snow? Why are there clouds? Why does the wind blow? What's snow made of?"
"How does God see through the roof?"

Being a mom, I found myself saying things like:
"Where are your clothes? (With a naked laughing child running through the house)
"Do not put your hands in the toilet" (then, we sanitize, sigh, again)
"Don't put that in your mouth!" (said almost everyday)
"Where did you find that?" (Billy walks into the room drinking yesterdays chocolate milk!)
"Do not give your baby sister a marker!" (Dani's face is now covered in marker)

Then, Billy can be so sweet, out of the blue he'll just look at his sister and say, "Oh, sweetie, you look so cute today." Or, he'll look at me and say, "Mom, I love you." It can make your heart melt!

At the end of the day, I just smile. This is just another day in paradise (sorry for the cliche)
I love my kids, and 4 years ago, I started the greatest job in the world!!!

The other day, we were hanging around the house, still in our jammies. Billy was watching birds on the porch and in the trees. He was telling me and Dani, how the big bird was the mommy and the little one was the baby. Then, he say, "Oh, look at the cute, little baby." Pretty soon, Dani had to check out the birds, too. They was so cute!

These are a few the other day at Grandma's house. Dani was being a ham.

Billy loves to draw. He spends hours drawing pictures of trains, racecars, people, dinosaurs. He's pretty good, too.

Keygan's Month

Keygan Champ Rohrich was born on July 1st, 2006, with a brain aneurism and heart malformation. He spent his first 28 days in Children’s Hospital in Denver. He was 3 months old before he could return home to Salida due to the elevation.
During the first 3 months, he had daily doctor visits. He had his first brain surgery in March 2007, and second in May 2007. It is estimated he will need 10-20 more brain surgeries. Once the brain aneurism is completed, he will be able to have his first heart surgery.
Doctors are hopeful to have the surgeries completed by the time Keygan is 5 years old. Keygan spent most of his first year on oxygen 24 hours per day. Now, he is only on oxygen at night.
His parents are Andy and Cathy Rohrich, which are both Salida High School graduates. Andy is a detective for the Chaffee County Sheriffs Department and Cathy is a firefighter for the City of Salida.
Medical expenses so far have well exceeded $1 million. Even with medical insurance provided through the city, Andy and Cathy are left with numerous deductibles, co-pays and other expenses with frequent trips to Denver.
As a personal note, my family is covered through the same insurance policy, and after the birth of our two children, we had stacks of medical bills. However, isn’t not even a fraction of what Keygan has had.
So, during the month of February, we will be donating 10% of all sales to Keygan. We also have a can for donations at the studio, or donations can be made to Keygan Champ Rohrich at High Country Bank, in Salida. We are also asking any other businesses to get involved in Keygan’s Month and help out this local child.

Locks of Love

I've had a very basic, low maintenance hairstyle for the past year, which has been a time saver with two little ones to get ready in the morning. Now, I was ready for a change. I just barely had enough to donate to Locks of Love. For those not aware of Locks of Love, check out: http://locksoflove.org/. It's my second time donating to this great cause, and I plan on donating again in the future.

A special thanks to stylist Kayla, and Tangles Salon. Kayla does a great job with both cuts and color! Contact Kayla at (719) 539-8558.

And thanks to Sierra, my assistant, for the photos!
